Fond memories came flooding back as I entered the Wiley gymnasium to watch the County Line Rivals, as the last time was when Doug Uhland was the coach for the team of combined wrestlers from McClave, Eads and Wiley. This time it was his son, Hayden Uhland, who was now coaching for the County Line Rivals. Also Lance Jagers wrestled for the older Uhland and now is the assistant coach for the new coop. Both teams, although decades apart, are very similar as both were/are so exciting to watch. This year’s team is loaded with talent and they are winning matches and taking names.
The Rivals have improved their records as most of them came away with wins for the Quad against Fowler, Limon, and Boys Ranch. Aiden Michael, Sam Wollert, A.J. Wilk, Dawson Roesch, Jayce Bauer and Chase Stolzenberger all recorded 2 more notches in the win column and Tate Krentz, Jonathan Burbank, and Samuel Adams all went one and one giving the crowd something to cheer about.
Tate Krentz got a pin over Tony Miles from Boys Ranch in 1:59 and then lost by pin to Ky Bandy from Limon in 5:10.
