Cheyenne County Tumbleweed Fair was a huge success this year! With wheat harvest in full swing during the fair we still had a big turnout of fairgoers this year.

The livestock and cake auctions were both great successes with lots of donations going to our Cheyenne County youth.

The Peddle Pull tractors were a big hit again this year, as well as a new addition to the Garden Tractor Pull.

The Prade winners this year were as follows: 1st place Happy Go Luckey 4-H, 2nd place Sand Creek 4-H, and 3rd place was Old Wells 4-H.

In the Commercial Division 1st place went to Eastern Colorado Bank, 2nd place went to Kemp Well Service and 3rd place went to Mike Davis.

All the winnings of the 4-H projects have been published so I will bypass these.

New additions to the arena, we shortened up the arena by 100 ft and added the VIP Tent on the northwest corner of the arena. This made a big difference in the performance of our 2 PRCA Rodeos.

The exciting part of the PRCA Rodeos is that both nights were televised on the Cowboy Channel.

Results of the 2 Performances is as follows:

Bareback Riding -Jade Taton of Kersey, Colorado 83 points; Saddle Bronc Riding- Sage Miller of Laramie, Wyoming 82 points; Bull Riding- Slayton Cavage of Banner, Wyoming 84 points; Steer Wrestling- Seth Cooper Peterson of Wellington, Colorado, 5.5 seconds; Team Roping- Jay Tittel of Pueblo, Colorado and TJ Watts of Eads, Colorado 6.1 seconds; Tie Down Roping -Jase Saguache, Colorado: 9.5 seconds; and Barrel Racing- Carla Johnson Cheyenne, Wyoming 16.08 time 16.08.

Total Payout for 2 rodeos was $41,535.70, and there were 180 contestants

It takes many hands to put on an event such as the Cheyenne County Tumbleweed Fair and Rodeo. I would like to personally thank our 2023 Sponsors. Without your participation, we could not have had a successful Fair and Rodeo! A huge thank you to the Cheyenne Co Commissioners, the Cheyenne County Tumbleweed Fair Board, Extension office staff, Courthouse staff, Cheyenne County Road and Bridge crew, along with Mark and Zane Galli and the two summer grounds helpers, all volunteers who helped sell tickets and manage other events and our National Anthem singers, Paisley Campbell, Ashlee Koch, April Johnson, Faye Buttery and Breanna Echols, who all did such an amazing job! Because of these all these folks, our fairgrounds and buildings were immaculate and well cared for, the arena was well prepared for the Rodeos, and all volunteer managed their areas expertly. And to you, the Cheyenne County community for coming together to support this annual week-long event, Thank you! I, along with the Cheyenne County Tumbleweed Fair Board, are proud of how wonderful our Fair turned out and the Fairgrounds looked for all our visitors.

I cannot forgot to thank my wife, Rosemary, for supporting me during the fair.

I hope you enjoyed the 2023 Cheyenne County Tumbleweed Fair and Rodeo this year and will join us again next year for what we foresee will be as or more enjoyable than this year.

Thank you,
Jim Lengel
Fair Board Manager
