Dear Editor,

As you recently reported, a serious vehicle accident involving three staff members of the Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site occurred in Eads on Friday, June 16. On behalf of the entire staff, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the first responders as well as to the whole community for its support from the moments following the accident and continuing throughout the following week.

Letter to the Editor - Recognizing A Way Forward

Anyone who reads this newspaper knows that I write columns from time to time. I want to clarify that I do not receive financial compensation for what I write and I do not seek to. I also do not have any financial interest in what the paper is reporting on or from opinions that the publisher or editor may promote. To the extent that some (or many?) of our interests and opinions complement or support each other, it is somewhat of a pleasant coincidence. Clearly it makes the opportunity to express oneself more enjoyable. Who doesn’t like to feel they have allies in the way they view the world.

Dear Editor,

After reading the article on Plainview football in the September 21, 2016 issue of the Independent, there are several things I would like to comment, correct, and add to the content printed. We are very excited at Plainview to be able to field a football team for the first time in years. We are also thrilled to have high school volleyball back in the gym.
