Kit Carson Teams Stay Perfect; Will Travel to Eads on Friday

     The Kit Carson Wildcat teams continue to steamroll their way through the 2016 fall season as the Volleyball team grabbed four victories over the week, including a tournament championship and staying perfect on the season. The Wildcats on the gridiron are also perfect as the football team defeated Branson/Kim in a conference win, 56-33.

Lamar Softball Takes the Broom to Dolores Huerta; Prepares for Rocky

     The 3A preps softball regular season is quickly winding down and Lamar is performing well hoping to peak this week when they host Rocky Ford on Thursday at 6:30 pm in the last game of the regular season.  Rocky is sitting on top of the league after beating Lamar, 10-0, a couple of weeks ago, but the Lady Savages hope this next meeting in Lamar will sway their way. 

Lady Eagles Put Together A Good Performance to Get Two Weekend Wins

     It was Homecoming in Eads and the Eads Volleyball team looked up to the challenge of a busy week and a strong performance at the same time against the visitors from Elbert.  The Lady Bulldogs came into the game sporting a winning record at 7-6 but Eads would take the match, 3-1 (19-25, 25-18, 25-23, 25-12).  Eads stayed hot on Saturday in Ordway at the Crowley County gym as they battled through their closest match of the season finally winning a barnburner, 3-2 (14-25, 25-23, 25-16, 20-25, 16-14).  Eads is 50% on the season at 4-4 going into next week’s schedule.

Eads Defeats Elbert 50-0 in Homecoming Victory

     The Eads Eagles (4-1) continue to slowly catch momentum as the #10 ranked team in the state moved up two lines to #8 this week after having a solid performance against Elbert (2-3) in Eads on Friday night among Homecoming festivities.  Their momentum needs to continue to ramp up as they are entering into the challenging part of the schedule beginning with Walsh away next week.

Watts and Ellerman Qualify for American Sem-Finals

The High Plains Regional Finals is a great event and one that ropers enjoy.  The roping was held at The Ranch in Loveland, Colorado and took place September 3-5, 2016 and was produced by the USTRC.

Hansen and Lopes in Otero Tournament

      After going 1-3 in the LCC-sponsored Little Caesar’s Classic that saw Freshman Jordan Graham lead the LCC offense with 13 kills while tallying 19 digs in the victory and Sophomore Tanaia Hansen right behind with 10 kills and two blocks the freshman-laden LCC Lopes traveled to the OJC Classic over the weekend where they split 2-2 to their opponents.

Eads Volleyball Still Looking for a Win

     Thus far in the very early season, Eads’ head coach Janelle Crow is still looking for the magic combination that will produce results for her young volleyball team.  And young they are as the Lady Eagles has nada seniors on their team.  Currently, Eads is 0-2 on the early season, dropping contests to Springfield, 3-1 (25-19, 19-25, 10-25, 20-25), and Otis, 3-0 (7-25, 17-25, 13-25)

Softball Struggles at Don McCall Tournament

     It was a long weekend for the Lamar Savages softball team as they traveled to the particularly tough Don McCall Tournament, where they saw 4A and 5A teams that are at the top of the state rankings.  They would come away with a difficult 1-4 record in the tournament, finally getting the win over Vista Ridge on Saturday, 18-1.  Eads’ Miranda Mitchek and Kaylee Wilson traveled with the team and saw a lot of vital varsity time on the field.

Turner Runs for 5 Touchdowns in Eads Gridiron Opener

     In a wild finish, the Eagles from Eads snatched victory from Otis on Friday night in their season opener as Fred Turner scored a rushing touchdown with less than a minute left. Led by the senior, (20 carries for 198 yards and 5 touchdowns) the Eagles started their title defense in impressive fashion.

We got a chance to catch up with Ty Lin Williams at the Youth Volleyball Camp held in Eads last week.  Over the four days of volleyball the Eads High School team helped teach area youth players the basics and instill in them a love for the game.
